How to make Shorts on YouTube?

Create Youtube Short

Initially, when YouTube introduced Shorts to the app in India, creators who had more than 10,000 subscribers could create these videos in-app, though not every creator in the U.S. has the option to at the moment.

Those who are able to create Shorts in-app can do so by:

  • Click the “Create +” button.
  • Select “Create a Short.”

While Shorts can be up to 60 seconds, but if you’re looking to film one in-app, the maximum length is 15 seconds.

  • As the functionality is very similar to TikTok or Instagram, for those who are familiar with those platforms. Just hold the capture button to begin recording, or tap it once to start and again to stop.
  • From there, you can edit and upload the short video as you used to do in TikTok or Instagram app. If you do not have the option to create Shorts in-app, you can upload pre-recorded Short videos instead.

  • To do this, make sure, your video is either vertically oriented or has a 1:1 ratio; if it doesn’t fit these parameters will not classify as a short.
  • From there, upload the video as you usually do.
  • Include the word “Short” somewhere either in your title or description. It is not necessary to do this, but it helps your audience to differentiate your content.
  • Although, videos that meet these qualifications, even without being defined a Short, will automatically fall under that category.
